Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Stewartville man is accused of punching a Rochester teenager who caused a traffic wreck over the weekend.

Rochester Police Capt. Casey Moilanen says the 16-year-old turned in front of an approaching vehicle at an intersection. Moilanen says the other vehicle had the right-of-way.

Moilanen says the driver of the vehicle was taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries. She was identified as 22-year-old Amber Thompson-Moore. A 17-year-old and two children ages 1 and 3 were also in her vehicle. They were not hurt.

Moilanen says her husband Edward Thompson-Moore became upset at the teen driver and began yelling at him for “putting his family in danger. “ Moilanen says he then punched the teenager several times in the head.

The teenager was issued a ticket for failing to yield. Thompson-Moore was charged with 5th-degree assault.

The incident happened around 10:00 PM Saturday at the 12th St/8th Ave SE intersection.
