Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Rochester police are investigating another case where a citizen was robbed while trying to complete a purchase that was initiated online.

This one occurred in a public place. Police Captain Casey Moilanen says a 29-year-old man went to the McDonald’s restaurant near St. Marys Hospital Saturday morning to meet with a person selling a video gaming system. The victim reported he met with a man identifying himself as the seller who showed him the gaming system, but then punched him in the face and robbed him of the $150 cash he brought with him to complete the deal. The incident occurred around 8 AM.

Last week, a woman was robbed after she met a person believing she was going to be sold a cell phone. That prompted an advisory from local law enforcement officials that any transaction between private parties should be planned in a public setting to discourage those with criminal intent. It was noted that many of these types of transactions have taken place in the parking lot at the Law Enforcement Center in downtown Rochester.
