Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Rochester Public Utilities customers may be getting a break on their rates next year.

The RPU Board is scheduled to review the utility’s 2020 budget Tuesday. Staff is recommending no overall rate increase for electric service and an adjustment of the residential customer charge from $19.50 per month to $18.30 per month. Customers saw their 2019 electric rates increase by an average of 1.9-percent.

Staff is recommending an increase in water service rates of 3.5-percent, compared to a 6-percent increase in rates during each of the last three years.

The Board is expected to act on the recommendation at its Nov. 12 meeting.
