The Rice County Sheriff's Office issued a news release today with details about an accident in the 4000 block of 140th Street West, Forest Township.  The head-on crash at a "hillcrest in the middle of the roadway" involved two drivers not wearing their seat belts.  The call was received at 11:47 a.m.

Sheriff Troy Dunn says, "Both drivers will be cited for failure to wear seatbelts."  Upon investigation it was learned a pickup driven by Aaron J. Green, age 26, of Faribault collided with a vehicle driven by Brady A. Wallert, age 19, of Medford.  Wallert was treated at the scene by emergency personnel before being transported by Mayo 1 helicopter to St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester with "non-life threatening injuries.  His condition was reported as stable."

"Green reported no injuries at the scene" according to the Sheriff's report.

“Both drivers are fortunate that they were not more seriously hurt in this collision.  This crash was preventable.  This is a good reminder to all drivers to be cautious when driving and to maintain travel in your own lanes and wear your seatbelts”, said Sheriff Troy Dunn.
