Rebounding, Free Throws, Lead Houston Past Kingsland
The Houston Hurricanes were able to grab several offensive rebounds, and then connect at the free throw line to take down the Kingsland Knights 60-48 in Houston Tuesday evening.
The Hurricanes opened up a 10-4 lead early in the game, but the Knights were able to close the gap and make it 10-9 with 10:05 to go in the first half. Then the Hurricanes were able to start to work the offensive glass and create extra opportunities to get points. By doing that, they were able to go on a 12-0 run to build a 22-9 lead in the first half.
The Knights were able to get their offense going a little bit in the first half, but it seemed for every run Kingsland had, Houston had an answer for. The Hurricanes led 32-19 at the half and they were able to get the 60-48 win by continuing to hit free-throws in the second half.
The big offensive performance from Alyssa Rostad help lead the Hurricanes to the win, while Emma Geiwitz did a great job of filling up the stat sheet and taking care of the basketball.
Lauren Buchholtz and Ellie Buchholtz led the offense for the Knights, while Merredith Farlinger did a great job of playing in the post to collect her points.
The win took Houston to a 1-3 record, while the Knights fell to 1-2.
