Good news as we enjoy temperatures climbing back up into the upper upper 80's and low 90's another Rochester, Minnesota, watering hole has opened up for seven day a week use.

According to Rochester Parks and Rec, as of today, July 20, 2021, the mining at Cascade Lake is now done. That means the beach and the water are now open seven days a week until Labor Day (Monday, September 6th).

Recreation Supervisor Ben Boldt said

“We are excited to be able to have the beach and water open to residents and visitors any day of the week. Cascade Lake continues to be a well trafficked park and we are happy it is being enjoyed.”

It was possible the mining work could last until October of 2023, but they completed most of the job ahead of schedule. There is still restoration work to be completed and
the large sand pile on site will be removed. That work is planned over the next year or two.

Remember, there's no admission charge at the beach, but also...no lifeguards. So watch your kids carefully.

If you're looking for an EXCLUSIVE place to swim, why not rent out an island?

Pork Chop Island on Burntside Lake (Near Ely, MN) - $271/night

One of the more reasonable private island getaways on our list just so happens to be in the incredible Ely area of Northern Minnesota. This private island getaway is one of roughly 125 islands on Burntside Lake, west of Ely. Resting in the western arm of the lake, this island offers 2 1/4 acres of space to relax. This rustic log cabin, listed on VRBO, has one designated bedroom and basic 'bathroom', with additional sleeping space on beds in the loft area above and on futons in the main room of the cabin.

Rustic as it may be; a candle-lit, electricity-free cabin this is not. It still has creature comforts like satellite TV to kick back at the end of the day to relax.

Being in the heart of canoe country, you'll be happy to know they have 3 canoes ready for you to use during your visit. If you are looking for a boat and/or motor, however, the owners do note they can help you find options.
