The Plainview-Elgin-Millville Bulldogs held the #1 seed in the East side of the 1AA bracket, and proved to be the best team with a nice 3-1 win over the #3 seeded Red Wing Wingers.

The Bulldogs took sets 1, 3 and 4, and a big part of their offense came from Hayley Dessner who was phenomenal in this one. She was able to generate offense in the back row whether it was high-quality passes to the front, or back-row sets for her to put a swing on the ball.

Dessner was not the only talent playing well for P-E-M, as Taylor Nelson had to take on a larger role and played fantastic. She brought a lot of energy off the bench, while Lauren Boyum was her usual self, putting great pressure on the Wingers defense.

Early in this one, the Wingers did a great job of alerting shots at the net, and getting a lot of blocks. Vanessa Frazier and Elle Thorson played great at the net, and forced the Bulldogs to change up what they wanted to do on offense.

P-E-M did just that. Tied at 1 set each, the Bulldogs made their adjustment and it showed in set three, as they turned the tables and got a convincing 25-15 win.

The Bulldogs took set 1 25-20, and fell in set 225-20, but set 3 really set the table and helped push them to a 26-24 win in set 4. It was fitting that Dessner got the block to get the final point of the match, sealing the deal for Bulldogs.

They will take on a very tough Kasson-Mantorville squad for the Section 1AA title Saturday morning at 11am, we will have the action for you on 103.1 KFIL!
