The #1 seed in Section 1AA East Subsection belongs to the Plainview-Elgin-Millville Bulldogs, and they showed why, sweeping the Eagles of Dover-Eyota Thursday Night on 103.1 KFIL.

The Bulldogs struggled early, as Dover-Eyota played with a lot of energy and has some excellent passing in the back row from Haliee Welsh, among others. Plainview-Elgin-Millville was able to bounce back quickly with a strong set 1 win 25-16 and followed it up with a 25-10 win and a 25-17 win for the sweep.

The Bulldogs got some great play from Hayley Dessner, as she was all over the place, getting kills in the front row and digging everything in the back row. The most impressive part of the match was her ability to pass, helping set up other hitters like Lauren Boyum and Sabrina Becker.

In set 1, the Eagles had a 6-4 lead, but couldn't hold down the fort. The Bulldogs bounced back with a big run and took a 10-9 lead that they eventually held for good. The Bulldogs were leading 15-12, and then went on a 10-3 run to close out the first set.

In set 2, it was all Bulldogs, who played with much more energy. They jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead, and were feeling very comfortable. The were able to push that lead to 15-5, and finished it out with a 25-10 win. The Bulldogs got great play from Boyum and Becker in the second set.

Dover-Eyota had their chances, but too many errors in the second set took their momentum away. They were able to battle back in the third set, but just ran out of time. The Eagles came flying in with a ton of energy and a 4-2 lead, that lead increased to 8-5, before a PEM timeout. The Bulldogs were able to collect themselves and jump out to an 15-11 lead. That 10-3 run was crucial, helping the Bulldogs finish out with a 25-17 set and match win!
