Order food. Eat food. Win a prize. You don't need to twist my arm any further. The Owatonna Area Chamber of Commerce and Tourism (OACCT) announces the "Take-Out Challenge" is back. In their Tuesday Talk e-newsletter, the chamber says the contest is back as a way to support local businesses during the pandemic. Three $50 gift certificates will be awarded each week.

Like the previous time the contest was held earlier this year, "It's simple, take a picture getting takeout at your favorite local restaurant and post to this (Facebook) page," writes OACCT President Brad Meier in the newsletter. The promotion runs through December 18.

The chamber encourages other ways to support local businesses, "Not holding a holiday party for your employees? Order carry out or buy gift cards," invites Tuesday Talk. The chamber website has added a site to order gift cards from member restaurants.

Chamber officials write, "Local businesses need your support more than ever. Fitness centers and studios have been restricted. Local retail needs a big holiday season. Find a list of local businesses."

In other news, "Visit Owatonna" was informed last week it has been a grant of $17,500 from the Phase II Explore Minnesota Tourism Crisis Marketing Grant Program. Tuesday Talk states, "The grant program is designed to support nonprofit tourism promotion organizations, so they can continue to stimulate travel for the economic benefit of their communities."
