7 Ways to Celebrate Christmas in Owatonna
Grab your Santa hat and a few lights that you can attach to your Griswold-style family wagon and enjoy a 'near normal' activity or two in Owatonna in the days ahead. The Owatonna Area Chamber of Commerce and Tourism (OACCT) promoted several events that are coming up this week (December 2-4). Owatonna Parks and Recreation is also getting into the holiday spirit with some promotions.
On Friday, December 4, the Owatonna chamber invites people to "decorate your car (or not) and join in a holiday cruise thru downtown. Check out the lighted storefront windows and buildings, pick up some grub or a gift certificate from your favorite restaurant, pub, and a couple new breweries."
Owatonna Parks and Recreation is offering children a chance to get their letters to Santa answered by turning it in by Friday, December 11. There is a collection box at the park and rec office. You can also email the letter to parkrec@ci.owatonna.mn.us, or mail it to 540 West Hills Circle, Owatonna MN 55060.
Park and rec will also feature Elf in the Park and Candy Cane Hunt. Check their Facebook page for more details.
The Steele County Historical Society (SCHS) presents their annual fancy cookie sale as a drive thru event through Friday, December 4. The gift shop in the history center is open for the holiday season. SCHS is holding a holiday lights cruise around the county.
The OACCT reminds everyone that local businesses are following the "Shop Safe-Shop Local" campaign. The chamber is hosting a prize drawing for purchases made by December 20.
