Over 14,000 lbs. of Wisconsin Beef Sticks Recalled in Minnesota +
Abbyland Foods, over there in Abbotsford, Wisconsin (about 3 hours North East of Rochester, Minnesota, on the way to Wausau), has recalled 14,976 pounds of beef sticks in seven states, including Minnesota.
There's nothing gross in them, no shards of metal, blue plastic, e coili, or any of the other nasty things we've seen recalls for. This one's due to mislabeling and misbranding. They contain milk/cheese, which is not on the label. And if you're allergic to milk/cheese...you do NOT want to ingest it by mistake.
The smoked beef sticks were produced between Nov. 15 and Nov. 17, 2021. Here's what's being recalled...
- 2-lb. clear plastic packages containing “IOWA SMOKEHOUSE ORIGINAL SMOKED BEEF STICKS” and sell by dates of 11/15/2022 or 11/17/2022 represented on the label.
- The products subject to recall bear establishment number 1633B on the package below the sell by date. These items were shipped to retail locations nationwide.
Locally the Iowa Smokehouse brand is available at several locations, including Hy-Vee, Scheels, Fleet Farm, and others.
"The problem was discovered after the firm received consumer complaints of cheese in the product and reported the event to FSIS. There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider." (Source)
Consumers with questions about the recall can contact Paul Hess, Controller, Abbyland Foods, Inc., at (715) 223-6386, EXT. 7813.
