Chatfield's Lexi Chase threw a perfect game in the first round of the Section 1AA East Sub-Section playoffs, and tonight she was brilliant again, throwing a no-hitter en route to a 3-1 win over Plainview-Elgin-Millville.

Chase struck out 14 in the win, and her dominant pitching performance was backed with three runs in the first inning from her offense. Belle Berg led things off with a double, and then Chase reached on an error. A sacrifice bunt from Carlie Berge, and then an RBI single from Peyton Berg help the Gopher take a 3-0 lead after one.

Then it turned into a pitching duel between Chase and PEM Hayley Dessner. The senior allowed three runs, just two of them earned in six innings pitched. After the first inning, Dessner was able to pitch out of jams and keep the Bulldogs in the game.

In the sixth, the Mallory Newcomb reached via an error and then advanced to second on the same error. A wild pitch and a passed ball allowed Christi Anderson to score and put PEM on the board.

That was the only run the Bulldogs could manage, and Chase continued to shut them down. The incredible pitching performances by Chase and Dessner earned them KVGO Players of the Game.

With the win, the #1 seeded Chatfield Gophers will take on #2 Cotter, while #5 PEM takes on #3 St. Charles Thursday at 4 pm.
