Nearly a Half-Pound of Meth Seized in Olmsted County Traffic Stop
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Olmsted County Sheriff's Office today reported the arrests of two people described as "well-known to us" on felony drug charges.
Olmstead County Sheriff's Captain Jim Schueller says the incident that led to the detention of 29-year-old José Aguilera and 36-year-old Marina Garza occurred on May 2nd when members of the Southeast Minnesota Violent Crimes Enforcement Team and the State Patrol performed a traffic stop in connection with an ongoing drug case.
He says Aguilera and Garza were in the SUV. They were released at that time, but the vehicle was seized until a search warrant was obtained and nearly a half-pound of methamphetamine was found inside. The search also turned up a small amount of marijuana and various drug-related paraphernalia.
Captain Schueller says Aguilera and Garza were booked into the Olmsted County Adult Detention Center on suspicion of first-degree drug sales and possession charges. Court records show Aguilera was arraigned today in Olmsted County Court on those charges and a third felony count involving an Aggravated Controlled Substance Crime. His conditional bail was set at $250,000.
