The south checkpoint at MSP has been closed down for a couple of months now due to construction. Thankfully, just in time for MEA weekend next weekend, both the north and south checkpoints will be open.

Phase one of the project on the south end was completed early which is why the south checkpoint was able to be reopened. The other two phases of the project have been pushed off until next year, according to KARE 11.

Not only are both checkpoints now open, "Checkpoint 10, located between the Blue and Red parking ramps and opening onto the skyway connecting Concourses C and G, is now also available for passengers with just carry-on bags." It was closed for a few months due to a shortage in TSA employees. This checkpoint will be open Monday through Friday, 5:30 AM - 1:15 PM.

It's great that all of these checkpoints are open, however, Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC) spokesman Patrick Hogan told KARE 11 that "'it really comes down to staffing [on the TSA] end. If the TSA can't keep the lanes open, then there will be lines.'"
