Minnesota has a TON of great craft breweries, including many here in Rochester. But which one is the most popular in the state?

First off, a big shout-out to ALL of Rochester's great taprooms and craft breweries. From Kinney Creek to LTS Brewing, Grand Rounds Brewing to Little Thistle Brewing and Thesis Beer Project, they all brew some INCREDIBLE craft beers and I'm a fan of all of them!

The crew over at HouseMethod just set out to find the Most Popular Brewery in Each State. To come up with their definitive rankings, HouseMethod said they looked at four specific factors: "Number of Facebook followers, number of Instagram followers, Yelp score, and number of Yelp reviews. After analyzing the data, we found the top 150 most popular breweries in the U.S. as well as the most popular in each state," the site noted.

And according to their survey, the title of Most Popular Brewery here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes actually goes to the granddaddy of them all: Surly Brewing Company in Minneapolis. Which isn't surprising, considering that Surly is the brewery that pretty much single-handedly is responsible for their being so many great taprooms and breweries in Minnesota today-- after they lobbied legislators to get state law changed to allow taprooms to sell their beer on-premises.

Also making the HouseMethod list of the Top 5 Most Popular Breweries in Minnesota are Schell Brewing Company in New Ulm, Fair State Brewing in Minneapolis, Dangerous Man Brewing in Minneapolis and Bent Paddle Brewing in Duluth.

In my home state of Wisconsin, New Glarus Brewing (makers of Spotted Cow) was number one while down in Iowa, Toppling Goliath Brewing Company was the most popular. You can see the entire list HERE.
