We know it's one of our favorite Minnesota events, and it's already won several national honors, but now the Minnesota State Fair has gone international!

Heading to the Great Minnesota Get-Together every August or September is one of those automatic things we do here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes, right? It's just like having turkey for Thanksgiving or opening presents on Christmas.

And, not to boast too much (although we totally will) but the Minnesota State Fair has already been named one of the best (if not THE best) State Fairs in the country too. That's not exactly a news bulletin.

But, Newsweek just included our Minnesota State Fair on its list of the 10 Best Late Summer Festivals in the World. That's right, the WORLD. Woo hoo! Go, Minnesota! Here's what Newsweek said about our State Fair:

One of the largest state fairs in the U.S., the 'Great Minnesota Get-Together' is Americana at its best. For 12 days, more than 2 million people roam the 322-acre grounds taking in the 4H livestock competitions, swap meets, auctions, concerts and other carnival attractions.

According to the list, our Minnesota State Fair is right up there with such other festivals including World Bodypainting Festival in Austria, the Taiwan International Balloon Festival and the Maralal International Camel Derby in Kenya.

So, pass the Pronto Pups and Mini Donuts! The Minnesota State Fair is just a little over six weeks away! (And, check out the entire Newsweek list HERE.)
