Everyone loves a good college town, and albeit we all have our favorites (Mankato, I am looking at you.)

Now, not ever college sets its place in a college town. Sometimes the big cities take over and one Minnesota city cracked the list of Top Large College Cities in the nation.

You can probably guess it, it is Minneapolis. According to the latest study from Wallet Hub, put Minneapolis as 8th on their list as a large college city and #14 on their total list.

Minneapolis is home to the University of Minnesota, and while it doesn't rank particularly well in "wallet friendliness" it did score fairly well in "social environment" at 47. I was surprised to see Minneapolis ranked so high, as a majority of the time you see smaller cities, that fit a Division 1 school that doesn't compete with a professional sports team, has much better rankings. Yet, with everything that Minnesota has to offer it makes sense to see the city shoot up the rankings.

Check the chart below from some other rankings of Minnesota's schools/towns like Mankato, Duluth, St. Cloud and Rochester.
