Minnesota Couple Recently Murdered in Mexico
Coon Rapids, MN (KROC-AM News) - A GoFundMe page has been established to assist in paying funeral-related expenses and to benefit the children of a Minnesota couple that was recently murdered in Mexico.
Family members of 49-year-old Miguel Abrego and 48-year-old Leticia Carillo say the Coon Rapids couple was visiting family in Puerto Escondido Mexico when they were killed on April 7th. WCCO-TV is reporting that a Mexican newspaper reported they were shot to death while driving.
The GoFundMe site was created by Diana A.Carillo, who include an expression of the family's grief.
"For reasons beyond our understanding, someone's senseless act ripped Miguel and Leticia away from our world. It is not enough to say we are shocked and hurt. We are utterly devastated. Their murder leaves many unanswered questions and creates a void in our hearts that can never be fixed or filled. Not even with time. This nightmare has become our new reality."
The couple is survived by their two children, Miguel and Diana. According to the GoFundMe site, she is finishing high school and her brother is in college. Family members are hoping donations will allow them to finish their education by covering the expense of bringing their loved one's bodies back to their hometown, along with other funeral and living expenses.
