A Minnesota brewery is temporarily closing its beer hall and gift shop amid a surge in COVID-19 cases throughout the state. Summit Brewing made the announcement on its social media page this afternoon, stating that the Ratskeller Beer Hall & Gift Shop will be closed to the public for at least the next two weeks.
We've made the difficult decision to temporarily close our Ratskeller Beer Hall & Gift Shop today as we navigate the surge in COVID-19 cases and its rapid spread.
For the health of our staff, partners, patrons, and community we will remain closed for at least the next two weeks.
We will revisit the reopening of our public spaces in the coming weeks as we continue to monitor the spread of COVID-19 in our community along with the directives and recommendations from local, state, and national agencies. Please watch our social channels and our website for updates regarding a reopening date.
We look forward to raising a pint with you in the Ratskeller again soon.
The reaction to the announcement was pretty quiet from the craft brewing community, with nearly all of the comments made under the post being positive in nature, and appreciative that the brewery was looking out for the public's health, as well as the health of its employees.
The announcement of the temporary closure comes on the same day that both Minneapolis and St. Paul's mask mandates were reinstated for both businesses and public places.
Brewery tours of the Summit Brewing Co. facility are not being offered at this time. It is our hope to bring limited tours back in the coming months. - Summit Brewing Company
