Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A possible expansion of the Gonda Building, a repurposing of the former Lourdes High School site and more parking spaces are included in Mayo Clinic’s updated 5-year plan that was presented to the Rochester Planning and Zoning Commission on Wednesday.

The plan includes dozens of potential projects at its downtown and St Marys Hospital campuses and other local sites over the next five years, some of which have been on Mayo's list of "may do" proposals for several years.

Possible projects at St Marys include a horizontal expansion of the Generose Building and an administrative support and parking facility at 11th Ave SW and 2nd St SW.

Also included in the plan are possible subway connections between the Baldwin and Ozmun East buildings, between the Dan Abraham Healthy Living Center and Ozmun Building and between the St Marys campus and a planned Bus Rapid Transit site.

Also in the plan is the possible construction of an employee parking ramp and support building at Mayo’s East Lot.

Mayo documents show it provides thousands of parking spaces for employees, patients and others in ramps, surface lots and other sites.

Also included in the presentation was a snapshot of its Rochester employee totals, based on numbers at the beginning of 2021.

The commission sent a recommendation of approval of the plan to the City Council for consideration at its Feb. 23rd meeting.

Mayo’s previous 5-year plan was approved by the city council in November 2016.
