Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The 2021 Rochester Salvation Army Christmas fund drive got a big boost from the Mayo Clinic.

Thanks to a matching donation of $50,000 from Mayo on December 17 and 18, the annual Red Kettle fund drive brought in more than $163,000 over those two days. Minus the match, the bellringers brought in just over $113,000.

"There is tremendous need this year for the services provided by The Salvation Army," says Mayo Clinic President and CEO Gianrico Farrugia, M.D. "We are so thankful to see this kind of generosity from the community."

Mayo began the matching donation program in 2017. A great deal of the money raised goes to the Salvation Army Good Samaritan Health Clinic, which provides medical, dental, and medication services to several thousand people each year.
