St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - A federal judge in Minnesota has sentenced a Georgia man to 28 months in prison for defrauding disabled veterans in Minnesota.

57-year-old Jeffrey Horner of Mableton Georgia earlier pleaded guilty to a federal wire fraud charge. A news release from the US Attorneys Office for Minnesota says Horner operated a business and served as a fiduciary for disabled veterans and managed their benefits.

He was accused of devising a scheme to divert the funds into at least a dozen bank accounts and his name and the names of businesses in his control. Federal prosecutors alleged he stole over $365,000 in government benefits for the veterans.

In addition to the prison sentence, Horner has been ordered to pay almost $373,000 in restitution.
