Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A man arrested by Rochester police after reportedly threatening a woman with a knife may be facing several criminal charges, including assaulting one of the arresting officers.

The 62-year-old woman was walking to work Tuesday morning when the man confronted her in the area of 6th St and 10th Ave SE.

The man began screaming at the woman so she walked away from him. When she returned a few minutes later, the man reappeared and began yelling at her again and pulled out a large knife. The woman was afraid she would be stabbed so she ran off and called 911.

The man was still there when officers arrived and the knife was found nearby. They recognized him as 40-year-old Edward Milner. A spokesman says Milner has a history of mental health-related incidents and it was decided to take him to St. Marys Hospital for a psychological evaluation. The spokesman says Milner resisted as officers were taking him into custody and kicked one of them in the chest.
