Canterbury Park in Shakopee is transforming into a world of lights from now into October. It's the Lantern Light Festival, a celebration of Chinese Culture. It's going on Thursdays-Sundays. Hours are 6-11pm through October 1, then 5pm-11pm October 5-22.

The show features massive lanterns, inspiring performances, children's activities and great food.

Some of the featured items are a 400 ft. dragon, a 30ft. tall panda and a castle you can walk through and a display honoring Prince.

It took over three months to make the sculpted steel frames for the lights, many LED's and lots of brightly colored silk fabrics, make up the displays.

the history of the lantern light festival dates back to over 2,000 years ago in China. The Emperor wanted to show respect to Buddha on the 15th day of the first Chinese Lunar month. It ends the Chinese New Year Period and marking the return of spring and reunion of the family.

Tickets are $18-23 with group pricing available. Find out more here
