Lanesboro Filled With Rhubarb!
Saturday marked another Rhubarb Festival in Lanesboro. Sylvan Park was packed with music, games, food, and, of course, rhubarb!
The Rhubarb Sisters were singing some good tunes for much of Saturday as I approached. I did not participate in a Rhubarb Run...maybe next time
Things started out for me by looking at some things at the Farmers Market. At the end of the day, I did get some jam. Another thing I bought was some honey rhubarb popcorn.
But I had to see what was going on at the petting zoo.
So apparently, there have been alligators in Rochester. I got to see one in Fillmore County! Some of the other animals looked away when I tried to snap some photos.
So after sanitizing my hands, I had to see what was going on with games
before getting some food. The first game I played was a "Minute to Win It." A lot of rhubarb had been chopped up, and I had 60 seconds to get as many of those bits from the big bowl to the small bowl. The pressure was on, and I was the leader after two contestants competed.
So then to eat, I hadn't had a brat for this season yet, so I got a really good one with kraut and all, but then I had to wash it down with some lemonade.
Rhubarb lemonade! It was tasty and refreshing on a hot day!
So on to the Rhubarb Olympics. The events included Rhubarb Hoops, Golf, Green Eggs and Rhubarb, Rhubarb Toss, Rhubarb Throw. Of course, you may have heard of my (lack of) athletic prowess, but I held my own, shooting 100% from behind the line in rhubarb hoops.
After all that, I had to refresh myself with some gelato (rhubarb on top) before driving off in my ca
r to make a grad party.
I almost melted before the gelato - my car had been sitting in the sun all day. 109 degrees was the reading on the dash. Then to listen to the rest of the baseball action on KFIL, then I had to stay inside.
