Lake Zumbro, MN (KROC-AM News) - A dike at the site of the Lake Zumbro dredging project breached Friday and an unknown amount of water flowed back into the lake.

Olmsted County says the breach occurred around 3:00 PM.

According to a press release, no injuries were reported and there was “minimal property damage.” The county says representatives from the contractor were assessing the damage and determining the next steps. The breach occurred at the lower pond of the project.

The county says the project was nearly finished and “ a new timetable for completion will be needed once the assessment is complete.”

The $7.5-million dredging project began earlier this year and has removed an estimated 450,000 cubic yards of dirt from the lake. The dredged material is being pumped to land located along County Road 12 about 1.5 miles east of the lake.
