I am so thankful for all of the event organizers that have adjusted with the times to make sure kids everywhere can have a Merry Christmas. I have two young children and I know they are excited to check out some of the holiday light parades happening in our area. The first one is coming up on Friday evening.

The Rochester Downtown Alliance's annual "Here Comes Santa Claus" event typically features a lot of fun festive in-person activities but has been modified this year to meet  COVID-19 guidelines. It will now be a drive-thru parade from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, November 27. (See the directions below) Holly Masek, executive director of the Rochester Downtown Alliance said, "In a year like no other, we’re glad to bring some holiday joy to Rochester. We hope attendees enjoy this new twist on the 38-year-old tradition.”

The Here Comes Santa Claus drive-thru parade route includes:

  • Entering at the Premier Banks (421 1st Ave SW) parking lot
  • Head north on 1st Ave SW from US Bank.
  • Drive past Santa Claus, who will be across the street from Residences of Old City Hall.
  • Exiting the parade route on 2nd St SW.

The trees along 1st Avenue SW will be lit up with beautiful holiday lights and Santa Claus will be waiving to everyone from high above while seated in a Rochester Fire Department truck bucket.

Turn your radio to Y105FM to make the parade even more fun! Your family can sing along to holiday classics on Rochester's Christmas Station. (105.3 and 104.9)
