
2nd St. SW Closure Limiting Access to St. Mary’s Hospital Begins Monday
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- A road closure that limits access to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester is scheduled to begin on Monday.

The closure is to accommodate the continued construction of the Link Bus Rapid Transit line.
Mayo Clinic is advising patients and visitors to St. Mary’s Hospital to plan for extra time for arrival and departure due to possible traffic congestion.

2nd St. SW to Close at 14th Ave. SW Intersection
Starting Monday, 2nd St. SW will be closed between 12th and 14th Avenues SW.
The intersection of 2nd St. and 14th Ave. SW is included in the closure and will prevent access to the level-one trauma center’s Mary Brigh entrance and the Emergency Department from the north.
The closure is expected to end by June 21.
Traffic Control Planned on 14th Ave. SW & Surrounding Intersections
Motorists traveling to St. Mary’s are being asked to take 6th St. SW then to turn north onto 14th Ave. SW.
In an effort to ease the traffic impacts, 14th Ave. SW will operate as a one-way, northbound street weekdays from 5 a.m. until 9 a.m. Vehicles exiting the St. Mary’s campus will be routed out of the area on Peace Garden Dr. SW.
Mayo Clinic and the City of Rochester say Rochester police will be in the area to conduct traffic control during peak commuting hours to assist with flow and to help emergency vehicles bypass backups.
City officials say the officers conducting traffic control will be stationed at the intersections of 2nd St. SW at 14th Ave. SW and 6th St. SW at 14th Ave. SW and 15th Ave. SW.

Crews are planning to conduct sanitary sewer and utility work associated with the road closure around the clock beginning at 5 p.m. on June 12 through 5 a.m. on June 15, the city says.
