Update: Police ID Victim of Deadly Shooting at Rochester Shopping Center

(UPDATE)

Rochester Police this evening reported the victim of the shooting this afternoon in the parking lot at Crossroads Shopping Center did not survive.

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Rochester police have confirmed that officers and emergency responders were sent to the Crossroads Shopping Center this afternoon to investigate the shooting in the parking lot.

Law enforcement dispatch was alerted to the shooting at 2:12 PM when it received multiple reports of multiple shots fired in the parking lot to the west of the Chick-fil-A restaurant at 1201 South Broadway. Upon arrival, officers found one man had been shot and took two other men into custody.

The victim was transported by ambulance to St. Mary's Hospital. His medical condition remains unknown.  Law enforcement radio transmissions from the scene stated the victim had been shot in the back of the head.

A Police Department spokesperson says the preliminary investigation indicates an altercation occurred before the shoot.

The Police Department's statement on the incident says that there is no threat to the public.

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Rochester police responded this afternoon to the Crossroads Shopping Center after receiving reports of a shooting.

Very few details have been released, but law enforcement radio transmissions indicate that an adult male person was found suffering from a gunshot wound to the back of his head and was transported to St. Marys Hospital. Information concerning the shooting victim's medical condition is not available.

The radio transmissions also indicate that two people were taken into custody at the scene. The incident was reported around 2:10 PM in the parking lot near the Chick-fil-A restaurant in the 1200 block of South Broadway.
