Minnesota Man Charged With Fatal Hit-and-Run Following Argument
Wyoming, MN (KROC-AM News) - A suburban Twin Cities man is facing a third-degree murder charge in connection with a deadly hit-and-run last week.
37-year-old Mark Wiosky was arraigned today in Chisago County Court on the murder charge and one count of criminal vehicular homicide involving drug impairment. His conditional bail was set at $250,000.
The Forest Lake man is accused of being the driver of a pickup that ran over a woman at a convenience store in the city of Wyoming on the night of June 22. According to the criminal complaint, witnesses reported seeing the driver of the pickup and the woman engaged in an argument and the woman holding on to the window on the driver's side of the pickup as the man was driving away. The witnesses also told investigators that the woman was dragged by the pickup before she fell and the rear tires on the vehicle ran over her head.
The court document says video recordings from surveillance cameras at the business verified the witnesses' version of the events leading up to the woman's death. The charges allege the video recordings show Wiosky walking up to the victim's car and flicking a cigarette into the vehicle before he reaches in and grabs her keys. The images also show the woman chasing after Wiosky and reaching into his pickup in an effort to grab back her keys as drove away, pausing only briefly to throw the keys onto the ground at the exit of the parking lot after running over the victim.
Following his arrest on Friday, the criminal complaint says Wiosky gave a statement to investigators admitting that he was driving the truck and that he had used methamphetamine about an hour prior to the fatal incident. He also told investigators that he and the woman had been involved in an argument.
