Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester woman has admitted to a cyberbullying crime in what is believed to be the first case of its kind in Olmsted County. 35-year-old Tonya Hewitt pleaded guilty Thursday afternoon to a gross misdemeanor charge of nonconsensual dissemination of private sexual images. In exchange, prosecutors dropped a gross misdemeanor stalking charge.

Hewitt was accused of sharing a nude photo of an ex-boyfriend on the internet. Police began their investigation after the man became aware of the photo and discovered Hewitt had placed an ad on Craigslist that listed his name and phone number while identifying him as a “lonely trucker” who was “looking for men wanting to have a great time.”

Hewitt admitted to police she shared the nude photo online but denied she was responsible for the Craigslist post. The criminal complaint says investigators were able to trace the ad to internet address registered to Hewitt, who is scheduled to be sentenced in July.
