Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - One of the men charged with an attack on another man outside a downtown Rochester bar last summer entered into a plea agreement this afternoon in Olmsted County court. 24-year-old Najib Ahmed admitted to a third-degree assault charge, which is a felony.

Ahmed and a 16-year-old boy were arrested after police used witness statements and security camera videos to identify a vehicle used by the group of people who assaulted a 27-year-old man by knocking him to the ground and stomping on him on the sidewalk in front of Dooley’s restaurant in the early morning hours of August 14th. The attack left the victim unconscious with what police described as a potentially serious brain injury.

Police later located the suspect’s vehicle in a residential neighborhood of northwest Rochester and took Ahmed and the teenage boy in the custody.

Ahmed is scheduled to be sentenced on March 12th.
