Submitted by Ben Aberg  We had a great time Friday night on Cool 104 with the Chatfield Gophers and St. Charles Saints battling it out on the gridiron. The home Saints took first blood, taking the opening kickoff to their own 49 yard line. Nolan Boice took the first snap, handed off to Parker Wendt, and Wendt took it in for the 51-yard score. Chatfield’s Jake Mandt ripped off a 52 yard run soon after and for a score that put the Gophers on the board. After thinking the game would be a real shootout, the defenses stepped up and the teams each scored once more, the only difference being that Chatfield could not cash in on either extra point attempt, and St. Charles was ahead 14-12 at the half.
The second half was a hard-hitting stalemate. With St. Charles trying to run down the clock and put the game away, Parker Wendt got some room and took his 3rd touchdown in. This time the extra point was no good. That was all St. Charles need though, and they celebrated their home win.
Subway Player of the Game for Chatfield was Jake Mandt. Mandt had the two scores for the Gophers and plenty of yards. Subway Player of the Game for St. Charles was Parker Wendt. Kingsley Mercantile Game Ball went to a young man who was active on all sides of the ball, Hunter Spitzer.  Next up for our football coverage is Triton vs Caledonia this Friday night on KFIL!  Hope you can join us!  High school game broadcasts can be heard on KFIL 103.1 or KVGO 104.3, online at kfilradio.com or kvgo1043.com, and on the FREE RadioPup app!
