Gopher Basketball Does Something For The First Time In Six Years
The 2019-2020 college basketball season has been on one of the strangest, and move entertaining starts ever, and the Minnesota Golden Gophers made sure that it kept going at the Barn for at least one more night.
Minnesota has struggled to open up the season, and after a poor showing down in Iowa when the Gophers fell to the Hawkeyes 72-52, they were in desperate need of a big game.
Cue #3 Ohio State.
The Buckeyes demolished ranked North Carolina on the road, beat ranked Villanova and had several dominating performances this season. Yet, on a Sunday night in Minneapolis, it didn't go the Buckeyes way.
Yes, there is still plenty of seasons to play out and there is a good chance that the Buckeyes make a tournament run, they are a very talented team. Yes, this was the first time since 2013 that the Gophers topped a top 5 team when they beat #1, Indiana. It was another court-storming affair for the Gophers tonight, as you can see from the team's Twitter account.
The Gophers entered the game having lost 29 of its last 30 games against a Top 5 opponent. Yet, the Gophers game to play and earned a big 84-71 victory.
It was a much-needed win for the Gophers, but can they continue it? Only time will tell.
