Rushford Peterson won the Section 1A East girls basketball championship Saturday afternoon with a 57-55 win over Kingsland.  Brianna Koop was the heroine with a three-pointer at the buzzer for the Trojans, who advance to the Section title game against Goodhue this Friday night.  Koop led the way with 27 points for the Trojans, who improve to 20-9 with the win.  Lauren Buchholtz had 14 for Kingsland, who end season at 16-13.  Koop and Buckhold were the Subway players of the game.  Carissa Bieberdorf had 11 points for R-P and took home the Kingsley Mercantile game ball award.

Plainview-Elgin-Millville advanced in the girls high school basketball tournament with a 62-28 win over Rochester Lourdes.  The Bulldogs were led by Emily Olson and Sarah Hart had 11 points each, and Megan Hobday had eight to lead the Eagles.  PEM will take a 27-1 record into the section title game against Dover-Eyota Friday night.  The Bulldogs have now won 19 games in a row.  Olson, Hart and Hobday shared the Subway players of the game honors.  Morgan Shidalar took home the Kingsley Mercantile game ball award.

Dover-Eyota moved on to the Section 1AA championship game with a 60-48 win over Hayfield in girls high school basketball.  Maggie Streightiff had 21 points and six rebounds to lead the Vikings, who end the season with a 20-8 mark.  Madison Nelson was the leading scorer for Dover-Eyota with 23.  Streightiff and Nelson were the Subway players of the game.  The Kingsley Mercantile game ball went to Megan Hintz, who chipped in 18 points for Dover-Eyota.  The Eagles take a 23-8 record into Friday's section title game against Plainview-Elgin-Millville.
