Food Drive Set Up To Benefit SEMCAC Fillmore County Food Shelf

A communitywide Food Shelf Drive is being held to help drive food donations for the SEMCAC Fillmore County Food Shelf.

Community members can bring by food and drop it off on Saturday, April 25, May 2, and May 9 from 9 am to Noon.

Those who are able to drop off food can do so in the lower level parking lot of Christ Lutheran Chruch in Preston. There will be signs directing people to drive through the parking area in one direction. A volunteer, wearing a face mask and gloves will get the donation from the driver. No one will get out of their vehicle. Just stop, drop off their donation with a volunteer, and continue driving. It is that easy!

The Fillmore County Food Shelf is currently low on needed food and supplies. March was Food Shelf Month in the area, but because of COVID-19, the donations were greatly decreased. The Food Shelf is hoping to Fill The Shelves!

The Preston Food Shelf is currently in need of items to put together 15-pound food boxes:

Brown and white instant rice
instant potatoes
hamburger helper style box meal starter
peanut butter
jam/jelly
mayo/miracle whip
sloppy joe sauce
can fruit
spaghetti sauce
pasta (not elbow macaroni)
graham and saltine crackers
and of course, sanitizing wipes or spray, paper towels, and toilet paper
They are also accepting cash donations
