Ben Ansell led the game off with a base hit and quickly stole second. Carter Weidemann drove him in with a hit of his own. Halen Schwendinger singled, and a couple more runs scored as Ethan Anderson pulled double down the right field line, then Shawn Marg's base hit was the 5th of the inning. The Trojans led 3-0 after just half an inning. Alex Brown struck out two Rushford-Peterson batters to end the inning.

With one out in the bottom of the first, Spencer Speltz singled. Emmet Byington singled. A couple batters later, Tyler Kadrie and Kale Meyer singled as well. Creighton Sauer delivered the 5th knock of the inning. Lewiston-Altura scored four runs in the first to take the lead! Sauer's courtesy runner was picked off first base to end the inning, so both squads batted eight in the first.

Down by one after one, the Trojans got their leadoff batter on again, with an infield hit by Payton Hahn. Ben Ansell singled to put tow on. Hahn scampered home on a dropped third strike, throw to first. Later, with the bases loaded, Dawson Dahl lifted a fly ball to left field for the sac fly RBI. Ansell crossed the plate for a 5-4 Trojans lead.

Things quieted down after that. The Trojans got a couple baserunners to start the 4th, but couldn't score any more runs off Alex Brown and the Cardinals. Shawn Marg then shut it down in the 2nd, with a pair of strikeouts and just one hit. No more than one baserunner reached in any inning the rest of the way.

R-P added on a run in the 6th when Ben Ansell came in on a groundout. That was all the scoring and the final was 6-2.

Tune in Friday for high school softball on KFIL!
