Today's Country Music History is devoted to the one and only Hank Williams.

Hiram King Williams was born September 17, 1923.  Throughout Hank's short musical career, he had numerous hits and influenced many performers.  Through his words and music, you could hear the pain in his heart, especially prominent in "Why Don't You Love Me", "Cold, Cold Heart", and "Your Cheatin' Heart".  Years after his passing, Hank was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1961, and the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame in 1987.  Tragically, Hank Williams died at the age of 29 on January 1, 1953 from heart failure exacerbated by prescription drug abuse and alcoholism.  His funeral was held January 4, 1953 at Montgomery Auditorium in Alabama.  It's estimated that twenty-thousand mourners passed his coffin.  His remains are buried at Oakwood Cemetery Annex in Montgomery.  Please take a look at this video of "Your Cheatin' Heart:".  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4WXYjm74WFI Thank you, Hank Williams, for the music you brought to our lives.
