Country Music History October 29

Did you know that Charley Pride once played pro baseball?  In 1956, Pride pitched four innings as the Negro League All-Stars beat the Major League All-Stars by a score of 4 to 2. Other players of note included Hank Aaron and Willie Mays.

Checking the Billboard country singles chart for October 29, in 1994 the #1 position was held by Alan Jackson with "Livin' On Love".  In 1983, the honor went to Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton with one of my favorite songs by the duo, "Islands In The Stream".

And finally, "You Belong With Me" by Taylor Swift goes gold, platinum and double-platinum in 2009.
