Country Music History May 30

Happy Memorial Day!  KFIL takes this time to honor and salute members of the United States Armed Forces who gave their lives protecting our great country.

Happy birthday to country great Wynonna Judd, born May 30, 1964 in Ashland, Kentucky.

In 1966, Miss Dolly Parton married Carl Dean in Ringgold, Georgia.

Checking the Billboard chart, in 1981 we find a huge hit for the Oak Ridge Boys "Elvira" holding the #1 spot.  Another huge hit, this one for Billy Ray Cyrus, "Achy Breaky Heart" is #1 in 1992 and remains there for five weeks.

And finally, in 2013 the Johnny Cash Museum in Nashville celebrates its grand opening.
