"Wasted" and "So Small" by Carrie Underwood received gold records in 2008.

2012 President Barak Obama presented Mel Tillis with the National Medal of Arts during a ceremony at the White House.

On a sad note, in 2002 Waylon Jennings passed away at his home in Arizona after a long battle with diabetes.  He had been inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame just a few months before his passing.
