Good Saturday to you, KFIL and country music fans!  One of the BEST rockabilly performers in music history was born April 9, 1932.  Carl Perkins was born in Tiptonville, Tennessee.  Carl was an outstanding guitarist and singer.  His debut single, "Blue Suede Shoes" rocketed Carl into the music scene.  As a songwriter, he penned great tunes for other artists including "So Wrong" for Patsy Cline and "Daddy Sang Bass" for Johnny Cash.

"Famous Last Words Of A Fool" by George Strait topped the Billboard country singles chart in 1988.

And in 1998, country queen Tammy Wynette was eulogized at Ryman Auditorium in Nashville.  Attendees and performers included Dolly Parton, Randy Travis and The Judds.
