Claremont Man Armed With Machete Breaks Into Neighbor’s Home
Claremont, MN (KROC AM News) - There was an incident involving an apparently intoxicated man armed with a machete in Claremont Sunday.
And it drew the presence of numerous law officers and other first responders.
The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office says the incident was reported just before 5:00 pm. The caller said a neighbor broke into her apartment “over a dispute of money.”
The caller said the man - identified as 40-year-old Samuel Ramirez - was brandishing the machete and making threats while trying to “assault both her and her significant other. “
Officers arrived to find Ramirez had “barricaded himself alone inside his apartment.” The sheriff’s office says after negotiations failed to convince Ramirez to surrender, "forced entry was made into the suspect’s apartment, who was taken into custody without further incident. No injuries reported.”
The incident lasted nearly 2 hours.
Ramirez is being held at the Steele County Jail pending charges and his first court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday.
