The Chatfield Gophers fell in the Section 1A East Subsection Final to the Cotter Ramblers 1-0 after a stellar pitching performance from Lexi Chase and Isabel Northrup.

The Ramblers lone run came on a solo shot in the second inning from Abree Dieterman, but the Chatfield bats, that average around 8 runs per game, were shutdown by Cotter's Northrup as the Ramblers took the game.

The Gophers got their first hit in the sixth inning on a single from Belle Berg, which advanced McKenna Daniels, who reached on an error to second. Carlie Berge reached via a walk and then the bases were loaded, but the Gophers couldn't cash in with two outs.

Chatfield threatened to score in the seventh, but Northup finished with two strikeouts and the Ramblers took the Subsection Title.

Chase allowed one run on seven hits and struck out nine, while Northup allowed just two hits and struck out 11 Gophers to get the win.

It was an intense game throughout, but the Gophers just needed one more hit and the game could have had a completely different outcome.

The Gophers were able to bounce back with a nice win over St. Charles to move on to Section 1AA Final Four.
