Saturday, KFIL broadcasted the Three Rivers baseball game between Lewiston-Altura and Fillmore Central/Lanesboro.

It was a miserable weather day for a game. Cold, wind blowing right in your face, and light rain started early on and continued throughout the contest. Eveyone was bundled as best they could. It felt like a game on March 30th instead of April 30th! The saving grace was that it was a very quick game, and we all could retreat to our warm cars! The day was scheduled to be a doubleheader, but knowing the rain would continue, the second game was called off.

After going scoreless in the first two innings, Lewiston-Altura scored in each of the final five frames on their way to a 7-0 victory. The pitchers wasted no time on the mound, and the batters were aggressive throughout the game, fueling the fast pace. Even though the Falcons were able to put runners on base, they failed to come up with a clutch hit to bring any across the plate.

The ‘Player of the Game’ for Lewiston-Altura was senior pitcher John Clobes. The lefty held the Falcons to just three hits, striking out four in his shutout win. He tossed only 82 pitches in his seven innings of work. For Fillmore Central, it was junior shortstop Samuel Peters. Samuel had two of the three hits for the Falcons, and had a couple nice defensive plays as well.

Our next broadcast day is Thursday 5/5, and you have a choice! On Cool 104 & kvgo1043.com, we feature TRC baseball with Dover-Eyota coming to Preston to take on Fillmore Central/Lanesboro. KFIL & kfilradio.com will have TRC softball in Chatfield as they host Caledonia/Spring Grove. Both are scheduled for a 4:45 pregame show, and can also be found on our RadioPup app.
