The Lanesboro Burros hosted the Grand Meadow Superlarks in a Southeast Conference boys basketball game Thursday night. Both teams were looking for their seventh conference win.

The Superlarks hauled in the first three or four rebounds in the game and scored the first four points of the game for an early lead. Then we got a tie and a couple lead changes before a big 13-0 Burros run. The Burros kept the lead the rest of the first half, with Collin Scott getting to the free throw line nine times in the first half! The Lanesboro boys were all over the place on defense and pushed the ball ahead on every fast-break opportunity. The halftime score was 29-19 Lanesboro.

In the second half, we saw more shorter runs throughout. Lanesboro kept trying to build the lead and put the game away, but then Grand Meadow would haul it back to just an 8-point game with 3 minutes to go. A full-court press caused a few turnovers, and Wes Ojulu liked getting the steals, but sometimes the press gave up easy buckets on the other end. One big moment in the comeback effort was Carson Schwichtenberg drawing an offensive foul after the Burros had turned it over. That was a big enough swing to keep Lanesboro on top and lead the Burros to a 57-46 win.

KFIL Subway Player of the Game for the Grand Meadow Superlarks was Connor King. The senior forward had at least a trio of offensive rebounds in the first half, and kept the Superlarks in the game, with 10 of his 14 points coming in the second half

For The Lanesboro Burros, Collin Scott took home Subway Player of the Game honors. The Lanesboro senior forward had some big blocked shots, never gave up on a play, and scored half of his 22 points through free throws.

The Kingsley Mercantile Game Ball was a tough one to decide, but Thursday night's was given to Cole Schwichtenberg. Cole surpassed 1,000 points two weeks ago, but is more concerned about winning. His 12 points and team play earned him the award.

Tune in Friday night for a doubleheader! We'll be on Saturday as well!
