Having the responsibility of hosting a State Tournament can be a lot. Maintaining the field, keeping families entertained, along with providing anything else that may pop up.

St. Charles has taken the task by storm, and are very excited about hosting the D2 Jr. Legion State Tournament this weekend. It is the first time the D2 Jr. Legion State Tournament has come to Southeast Minnesota, and St. Charles plans to make a great impression.

"We are very excited," said St. Charles Athletic Director and Head Baseball Coach Scott McCready. "This is the first time for the D2 Tournament to be held in Southeast Minnesota. We've worked hard and have great community support."

If you follow McCready on Twitter, you know the amount of work that has gone into preparing the field along with keeping it in great condition through June and part of July that was filled with what seemed like rain every day.

St. Charles, as host of the event, earned a spot in the tournament, along with La Crescent out of Southeast Minnesota. It should be a fun weekend of ball from Aug 9th - 11th!

"It will be a fun weekend to celebrate baseball and our community," McCready said.

Entering a Legion State Tournament is always a great experience for the players, coaches, families and the hosting community.

The lights will be shining bright, and St. Charles is prepared for it all.
