Blake Shelton’s ‘God’s Country’ Ties Him With George Strait, Alan Jackson on Country Airplay Chart
As Blake Shelton's "God's Country" becomes his 26th No. 1 hit, it earns him a status that also belongs to a pair of country icons.
Billboard confirms that Shelton's current single "God's Country" has reached the No. 1 spot on Billboard's Country Airplay chart, marking his 26th time to claim the coveted position. In doing so, it also lands him in the company of two titans, George Strait and Alan Jackson, as having the third-most No. 1s in the history of the chart.
Kenny Chesney is king of the chart with 30 No. 1s, while Tim McGraw is a close second with 29. Some of Strait's most notable hits to reach the top spot on the Country Airplay chart include "Write This Down," "Check Yes or No" and "Give it Away," while Jackson's signature No. 1 hits include "It's Five O'Clock Somewhere," "Remember When" and "Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning)." Shelton's previous No. 1 hits include "Sure Be Cool if You Did," "Neon Light" and more.
Co-written by 2018 Taste of Country RISER Devin Dawson, along with hit songwriters Hardy and Jordan Schmidt, Shelton says he felt an immediate connection to "God's Country" the first time he heard it.
"For me, it's about being from Oklahoma — where I was born, raised and still live today," he states. "No matter where you are from, or where you're standing, it is my belief that you're standing in God's Country."
The beloved coach of The Voice recently teamed up with Garth Brooks for a new duet, "Dive Bar." The two are scheduled to perform it together live for the first time during a stop in Boise, Idaho, at the Albertsons Stadium on Friday (July 19) as part of Brooks' Stadium Tour.
Shelton has wrapped his 2019 Friends and Heroes Tour, but there are still Blake Shelton tickets available for shows in 2019.
