Ben Wakes up Early for Baseball
Monday morning started the World Baseball Classic as Team Israel faced South Korea. The game was a night game out in Korea, but back in Minnesota, so the broadcast time was live at 3:30 a.m.! Did I get up right away? Not quite! But there was plenty of baseball to be played before and while I was at the studio.
I did as much as I could while having the game on my phone in the background. The game was heading into extra innings during the Sports Roundup at 7:30 a.m., and then I had to see the conclusion. With first and third, Team Israel got an infield hit to go up 2-1, and ended up winning by that final score.
This isn't the first time I've been up early to watch a ballgame. Back in 2014, The Dodgers played the Diamondbacks to open the season in Australia. The game got pushed back to 4:00 a.m. instead of 3:00 a.m., if I remember correctly. Those were the days when I would stay up all night and then watch the game. Now, I just go to bed early and wake up for the early-ish innings.
This afternoon, we have some baseball that I'll still be awake for. On KFIL, the Twins start the broadcast at noon, with first pitch about 5 minutes after that. And don't forget about high school boys basketball tonight! On Cool 104, St. Charles is taking on Plainview-Elgin-Millville with a 5:45 pre-game! KFIL has Spring Grove taking on Kingsland at the same time, then Rushford-Peterson vs. Wabasha-Kellogg following that in 1A East Subsection Semifinals! Sports, sports, sports today!
