Originally scheduled to begin on Sept. 11th, MnDOT has postponed (again) the construction on highway 52 between Preston and Fountain one more time.

Because of wet conditions and rainy weather, MnDOT released that they will postpone the project until Sept 18th, when Highway 52 will be closed for roughly two weeks.

Here is the detour that will take place once the construction officially gets underway next week:

"The detour route for through traffic from the north at Fountain is Fillmore Co. Rd. 8 east to Lanesboro to Hwy 16 south of Lanesboro back to Hwy 52. The detour from the south is in reverse.

Motorists going into Preston can use Fillmore Co. Rd. 8 east to Fillmore Co. Rd. 17 south.

Hwy 16 motorists approaching Hwy 52 from the west will not be able to join Hwy 52 at Preston. They’ll need to detour north on Hwy 80 to the detour route at Fountain. Vehicles going to POET Biorefining in Preston may use Hwy 16 for accessing the plant."

This is great news for the Taste of the Trail this weekend in Preston, Harmony, and Fountain. Preston has the Pop Up Market, live music and more. Harmony will have some great food samples at the Harmony Trailhead. Fountain has several different businesses open in their downtown area to check out. Take a full look at that HERE.

Weather is expected to turn more summer-like into next week, which should allow crews to get the job done within the two-week span. You can get our full weather forecast HERE.
